- cubic feet 16.67
- cubic meters 0.472
- tons (US) 0.93
- tonnes 0.84
Tip: Edge a gravel path with steel, stone, or timber so the gravel stays put and does not spread into the lawn.
How it's calculated
1 cubic yard covers about 324 sq ft at 1 in / about 162 sq ft at 2 in deep; about 1.5 US tons per cubic yard (typically 1.4–1.7).

Gravel Calculator for Walkways FAQ
How deep should gravel be for a walkway?
About 2 inches over a firm base is enough for foot traffic. A deeper layer of loose gravel is harder to walk on.
How much gravel for a walkway?
Multiply length × width, then use a 2-inch depth. A 3 ft × 25 ft path (75 sq ft) needs about 0.46 cubic yards.
